Atlanta’s best musicians, poets, performing artists, and vocalist will join forces to honor Dr. Nina Simone in a live theater performance featuring Simone’s classic music. Renowned poet and CNN’s Black in America’s Jon Goode will narrate a riveting story of Dr. Simone’s life.

Appropriately reflective of Nina’s style, grace, and musicianship, Funkier than a Mosquito’s Tweeter, will take viewers on a multi-senses journey beginning with Nina’s early years as a youth, to her mid years of revolutionizing the Young, Gifted, and Black through her music, leading the masses through civil rights and equality for the under-represented masses in Mississippi Burning.  Poets will recite her lyrics, dancers will interpret her meanings, and artist will provide live painting and sculpting during the performances.

Organized by Atlanta’s own Anthony “AJ” Joiner, the creator and founder of The A Spot, Funkier Than a Mosquito’s Tweeter will feature some of the country’s best poets, artists, and singers including Queen Sheba, Jon Goode, and Hank Stewart.
